Welcome Team BluePearl!

September is National Suicide Awareness Month and at BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Hospital, we believe in supporting the causes that are close to our Associates’ hearts. During this month of awareness, we will be participating in many socially distancing-friendly events, including supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as a regional sponsor to their Out of Darkness Community Walks.

Why is this so close to our hearts? Veterinary professionals have one of the highest rates of suicide among many professions. And while our patients may be furry (or scaly or feathery!), the wellbeing of our Associates has always been a top priority. We will not stop fighting for them or spreading the message until this tragedy ends.

How You Can Participate:

Out of the Darkness Community Walks are a signature fundraising event for the AFSP.

The Four S Challenge includes:

·     Steps: Walk 10,000 steps

·     Stairs: Walk 1,000 stairs

·     Sit-ups: Perform 100 sit-ups

·     Story: Bravery is the midst of adversity and tragedy is one of life’s greatest challenges. Share a story.

Using the hashtag #BP4SChallenge, we encourage you to post these events on social media to bring awareness to our message: ending suicide in the veterinary profession.
