AFSP Long Island Chapter's Paws for Prevention Event!

The Pups and Peeps Loop the Trails Dog Walk began in 2017 in loving memory of Port Washington resident Flavio Barbosa and has grown into a community event raising awareness and funds for mental health education and suicide prevention efforts. The 8th annual Pups and Peeps event will again be held at the beautiful Sands Point Preserve with new activities planned and ways to get you and your family engaged.

Check in begins at 9:00 am. Fun, family and pet friendly activities will be set up until noon.

You can walk the trail at your leisure, but be sure to check out the raffles,

Grover's Food Truck serving breakfast foods,

and the Ruff Life mobile grooming station for a nail trim

either before or after you walk!

There is no fee to register for the dog walk, and no minimum fundraising requirement, but if you donate $20

you will receive a Pups and Peeps bandana for your Pup!

If you raise $100 or more, you will receive the 2024 official Pups and Peeps Tee Shirt for yourself!

Don't own a dog and are looking to adopt one? North Shore Animal League America will be joining us with some of their adoptable dogs!

Special Thanks to The Ruff Life Mobile grooming Salon and Spa. Nail trims will be offered for a minimum $20 donation with 100% of proceeds benefiting AFSP Long Island Chapter.

How do I register? Click here to view a step-by-step guide.

I am already registered but I want to create / join a team, how can I change my registration? Log into your account and click on the “change team membership” option on the right hand side of your dashboard tab (on mobile you’ll need to click “dashboard” first). View this video tutorial for more help

Can I register at the Walk? Yes! You can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until June 30th.

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $100 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official Pups and Peeps walk t-shirt!

If you donate $20 your pup will receive the official Pups and Peeps bandana.

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $100. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $100.

How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

You will not be charged for parking. Pups and their peeps will be walking one of the trails at the preserve. Please be sure to bring water for your pup!
