Join us to help save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
The Rochester Out of the Darkness Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we care about and love.

Important Walk Day Information
Register Online: Please register online before walk day - this will keep crowding to a minimum and get you through check in much faster. For those that are unable to register in advance there will be QR codes placed around the event that will take you to a mobile friendly and simplified registration process. If you have checks or cash to bring on the day of the event, we will have a small station under the pavilion to collect those donations. 2024 Walk t-shirts will be available to pick up on Saturdayy for individuals that have raised $150 by the day of the walk.
Program Overview: We are thrilled to be bringing back a formal opening program which will begin at 10:00 a.m., including our Honor Bead Ceremony. We will begin walking immediately following the Bead Ceremony.
Memorial Slideshow: New this year, please join us in honoring our loved ones through a Memorial Slide Show during the Walk. If you would like to honor a loved one with a memorial slide, please fill out this form: https://afsp.wufoo.com/forms/rochester-walk-memorial-slideshow. We will be accepting submissions through Wednesday, October 2nd. We are grateful to honor your loved ones in this way.
Following the Walk, the party starts at the Haley Center for the 4th Annual Oktoberfest to support suicide prevention!
Join us for live bands, food, a beer tent, tons of raffle prizes, family fun, and so much more! Stop by the Haley Center between noon and 8 pm to continue a meaningful day coming together as a community to support suicide prevention. We can't think of a better way to spend a day! 💙

FAQs
Is there a registration fee? There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum to participate. We strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt! |
If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt? The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150 by 10/05/2024. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150. |
How do I make an offline donation? To send a donation by check, please complete the Offline Donation Form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Are dogs allowed? Yes, dogs are allowed at this Walk.
How do I change my team status? If you're already registered and looking to create a new team or join an existing one, simply log into your account and click "change team membership". |
Can I register at the Walk? You can register or donate in-person at the Walk by scanning a QR code. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
