*Pre-registered participants will no longer need to check-in at the Walk unless you raised $150 or more and need to pick up your 2021 Walk shirt, or turn in additional funds. We encourage you to register, invite friends, fundraise, and donate in advance to make your day-of event experience as safe and streamlined as possible! Be sure to read items marked UPDATE and check back for any last minute changes.

The Out of the Darkness Watertown Walk is a special event that provides community, connection, healing, and hope for survivors of suicide loss and those with lived experience. We are moving forward with plans to host the walk in-person on Sunday, October 10th. By registering, you are joining a strong community united in an effort to fight suicide while showing up for yourself, recognizing and honoring those you love, raising awareness, educating communities, supporting one another, and sharing hope. Every dollar you raise allows AFSP to invest in life-saving research, education, advocacy, and support for those impacted by suicide.

When and where is the event taking place?
The event is taking place on Sunday, October 10 at Thompson Park.
UPDATE: The event kicks off at the big stone pavilion at the park. Parking is just past the pavilion on the opposite side of the street. Click here for a map.


Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.


How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a minimum $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

Event Day Resources & Activities

On-Site Activities

AFSP merchandise, basket raffle, Community resources, and more! UPDATE: You will have access to onsite activities for the duration of the event. Our Opening Ceremony and Walk will start at 11:30. Children and well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.

UPDATE: We walk rain or shine! Please dress for the weather and bring an umbrella if it looks like we might get a little wet. Water and light snacks will be provided.

Who do you walk for? Individuals or Teams that raise $500 or more by Sept. 27th will be invited to have a sign made to be displayed on the walk route on event day.
