Will you help save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide?

We know times are tough and it has been a long road since 2020 but we hope you will make a commitment to support suicide prevention. You don't need to decide today if you will walk or join virtually, but we do ask that you commit to standing with AFSP to raise awareness and fight this leading cause of death. Register today or donate to help save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

The Hoboken Walk is about community, connection, and hope. However you participate - a walker, donor, or sponsor - you are part of an important movement to create awareness about suicide prevention.

Important Walk Day Information:

AFSP New Jersey staff along with your Hoboken Walk Co-Chairs & Committee have been hard at work creating a hopeful, healing and safe event.

  • Walk Location: Babbio Deck - Stevens Institute of Technology
  • Walker arrival time: anytime between 9:00AM - 10:00AM
  • Opening Ceremony: 10:00AM
  • We will be offering contactless registration. There will be walk-up registration and an opportunity to drop-off donations, but if possible, please register and donate online to save time and support physical distancing.
  • Bathrooms will be available inside the Babbio Center. Masks will be REQUIRED to enter Babbio Center. 

Those who pre-register DO NOT have to check-in on the day of the walk. If anyone is coming with you to the walk, please have them register ahead of time, or you may register them yourself. For those who do not-preregister, QR codes to register and donate will be at the Walk. 

We strongly encourage everyone to ask your supporters to donate online whenever possible. We kindly ask you to mail checks in ahead of time (or by December 31 at the latest) to AFSP New Jersey, P.O. Box 3068, Hoboken, NJ 07030 and include and Offline Donation Form.  Please note: we will NOT have petty cash on hand on walk day, if you are planning to make a cash donation please bring exact change. 

Things to bring to the walk:
Your smartphone
A mask
Hand sanitizer 
Your own bottle water 

The Babbio Center/Deck is located at 525 River St or 6th Street and River. We will be set up outside on the beautiful deck that overlooks the Hudson River. 

There are no parking 'rules' in Hoboken on Sundays. You can park on the streets closest to where the walk is. There is also a garage underneath of where we will be set up. You can access the garage from Sinatra Dr. 

Event Day Activities: 

Walkers will have the opportunity to pick up their t-shirt (those registered walkers who raise $150 or more), grab honor beads, enjoy music, take a team photo, visit vendors, AFSP resource table and more!

We will have our Be The Voice and HOPE merchandise available for purchase. Please note: we will be accepting credit card or exact cash only as payment.   

Walk Route: 
Our top team as of Sunday morning will lead us on the 2 mile walk down along the walkway by the Hudson River to loop Pier A.

When and where is the event taking place?
The walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 24th in Hoboken (Babbio Center Atrium/Deck – Stevens IT).  We will continue to monitor COVID-19 guidelines and communicate updates, as necessary.


Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.


How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

Honor beads will be available on-site to show your connection(s) to the cause.

Virtual Hope Wall

As a chapter, we have created a virtual HOPE wall where you may post messages of HOPE and LOVE to inspire those who have been affected by suicide. We want to create a virtual space to share messages of hope and encouragement and have another opportunity to come together as a community in support of one another. We encourage you to leave a note, share a story, post a picture and check out the others inspiring messages.

We will have to approve each post to make sure all images and texts are safe, therefore it might take a few hours to show on the wall. Thank you for understanding!
