Get to Know Us: A Volunteer Introduction to AFSP Virginia is an opportunity to discover the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, learn about its mission, and explore which volunteer roles you would enjoy.
**Please register at least 30 minutes in advance to receive log-in information for this session.**

Virtual ProgramTalk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention is a community-based presentation that covers the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide. Participants will learn common risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide, and how to keep themselves and others safe. Please register at least 30 minutes in advance. |
Virtual ProgramIntroduction to Supporting Those At Risk is designed to provide information and resources on how to support someone in your life with lived experience. (experience with suicidal thoughts and/or a past suicide attempt). Please register at least 30 minutes in advance.

FAQs
Can I still fundraise after the walk? Yes! Walk donations are accepted until December 31st. You can encourage people to continue to donate through your walk page through the end of the year. Funds raised after walk day do not count toward event t-shirt qualification.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
