Event Schedule

Come out and join us with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention for a fun filled day of event while becoming educated, empowered in suicide prevention, the 11^th leading cause of death in Missouri.

At this event you will have the opportunity to learn about the warning signs, risk factors and protective factors of suicide, hear inspiring stories of loss, hope, and recovery and engage in activities focused on building connections, understanding and compassion. There will also be resources available to help you create your own action plan to help prevent suicide in your own life and the lives of those around you. We look forward to seeing you there!

Bring your family friendly dogs as well-All dogs can register for a free AFSP doggie bandana, collapsible doggie travel dish, and a chance to win a Paws for Prevention goodie basket. Dogs must be leashed, please bring supplies to clean up after your furry friends.

10:00am-Walk registration, walk T-shirt pick-up for participants raising $150 individually, raffle and merchandise sales open.

10:30am-Opening ceremony and Walk begins.

11:00am-Gizmo's Pawsome Guide to Mental Health Read-Along story time Children's Activities (written for 4-to11-year-old children, however all are welcome).

11:00am-Suicide prevention positivity rock painting, all are welcome, and will be available until end of event.

12:00pm- Gizmo's Pawsome Guide to Mental Health Read-Along story time Children's Activities (written for 4-to11-year-old children, however all are welcome).

1:00pm-Honor Bead Ceremony, Speakers, Bugles Across America plays TAPS, with more event announcements to come!

1:45pm - Raffle Sales and Paws for Prevention raffle end. Winners will be announced and notified by phone, no need not be present to win.

2:00pm- Event ends.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

FAQs

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150.

How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

Can I register at the Walk? Yes! You can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Are dogs allowed? Yes! Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the walk.
