Ways You Can Still Help

Download the App

There's now an app to make it even easier to raise funds and receive updates.  Click the App Store or Google Play button above to get started.

Check for Matching Gifts

Click here to learn how you can double (or more!) your impact through matching gifts.  See if your donors work for companies with matching gifts programs.

Use Social Media

Create a FB Fundraiser through your account or it will not connect to your page! This is super easy in the app btw (wink wink)

Upcoming AFSP Virginia Events

Virtual Program

Get to Know Us: A Volunteer Introduction is an opportunity to discover the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, learn about its mission, and explore which volunteer roles you would enjoy.  Register below to join us for this casual introductory conversation.  Register here.

In Person Training

safeTALK is a half-day alertness training that prepares anyone 15 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. safeTALK-trained helpers can connect others with life-saving intervention resources.  Please register here.

Thank you for joining us!

Can I still fundraise after the walk? Yes!  Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.  You can encourage people to continue to donate through your walk page through the end of the year.  Funds raised after walk day do not count toward event t-shirt qualification.

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150 or more. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150.

How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
