The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about. The 2023 Walk is a much smaller event this year, but we will return in 2024 with our usual large-scale format. If you are interested in joining our 2024 Planning Committee, attend our first meeting on October 11th by registering here

FAQs

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate. Please keep in mind the walk format is different this year, and there will be no large-scale walk event. There will be a small meet-up of walkers on 10/21 at 7 a.m. to walk the traditional route at Lake Merritt.  RSVP here to learn more

 

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150. Shirts will be mailed to walkers who qualify. T-shirts can be picked up at the meet-up on 10/21 or email afsp.oaklandcawalk@gmail.com if you earned a shirt and are unable to attend.

 

How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

2023 Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

 

Can I register at the Walk?  The walk format is different this year, and there will be no day of event registration. There will be a small meet-up of walkers on 10/21 at 7 a.m. to walk the traditional route at Lake Merritt. We do encourage you to register online. RSVP here to learn more
