My daughter, Sarah, and I started a memorial fund to raise awareness about the high rates of suicide and mental health challenges in this country - especially for young men, who might experience stigma against reaching out for help.
Patrick was 28 years old. He was a sweet and engaging man. We will always remember his smile, contagious laugh and sense of humor. He was an artist and a dreamer.
He was an avid baseball player and enjoyed fishing with his dad and boating in Cape Cod and Onset. He also loved creating electronic music and performed in several music festivals throughout the US. He also had an enthusiasm for food and cooking, particularly good cuts of steak and authentic barbecue. Patrick appreciated local craft beers; he identified exceptionally well-brewed IPAs and brought them as gifts to friends he knew would value them.
Patrick struggled with the heartbreak of losing his dad unexpectedly when he was 15 years old. We could not comprehend the depths of darkness that Patrick faced and the insurmountable pain that he endured, until he no longer could. We hope that Patrick is at peace with his dad and we will remember them both with love.
We appreciate all the love, support and generosity that our friends and family have provided during these difficult times. Thank you all for donating to help support suicide prevention initiatives in Massachusetts and in the US.
