After a battle with depression on and off, our family lost a father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend on January 15th, 2023. Ricardo came to this country from Bolivia at the young age of 26. He then married the love of his life, Aida, and had two sons - Jason and Eric.  He was married for 50 beautiful and loving years. During that time, he worked hard at Chase Manhattan Bank for over 30 years, bought his first home, taught at NYU and Chubb, and became a proud grandparent to three beautiful grandchildren.   

We have so many wonderful memories of our dad and grandfather.  He was an avid soccer fan and would never miss a Liverpool F.C. game. Ricardo was also a big fan of baseball and enjoyed watching the Yankees with his kids and seeing his favorite player Rich Gossage, aka "The Goose" throw fastballs. He taught us everything about finance and investing in the market.  He loved history, collecting a vast library of books, and would bring history to life by not only sharing historical stories but his own personal narratives that kept us all yearning for more. Throughout the years, he developed many hobbies that he always was proud to share with us, from perfecting his butterfly stroke in swimming to perfecting his chess game. Ricardo was an example to his family, and his wisdom, love, and dedication will be greatly missed.

We are all forever changed by this tragic event. Our hope is that through education and awareness, those suffering from mental illness will be prompted to seek help. Funds from this memorial page will fund research, offer educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support those affected by suicide.
