15 years ago, Scott suffered a spinal cord infarction.  Immediately after the stroke, Scott lost the ability to walk as the lower half of his body was paralyzed.  Against so many odds, Scott spent years at physical therapy learning how to walk again.  Although Scott never regained full control and was reliant on his cane and wheelchair, he worked so hard to keep his body moving and active.   He suffered with pain on a daily basis. Most people would not be able to deal with this level of pain for even a few days, but Scott lived with it for just about 15 years.

On January 19th, the physical pain and depression proved to be too much. Scott made the decision to end his suffering and took his own life.

Our family will be forever changed by this tragic event.  Our hope is that through education and awareness, those suffering with a mental illness will be prompted to keep seeking help, even during their darkest of days. Your donation will fund the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's research, education, survivor and awareness programs - both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.

We appreciate any support you can provide to this organization to make a difference in the lives of so many, before it's too late.
