I'm participating in the Out of the Darkness St. Louis Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

I'm walking because I am a suicide survivor. In early August 2019, I came out as gay and started the process of divorcing my wife. The fear and guilt of breaking up my family and showing the world my truth, combined with untreated depression, pushed me over the edge. On August 23, 2019, I made a plan to end my life and wrote a note apologizing to my family. In that moment, I realized I did not want to die and sought help. With the help of intensive therapy and medication I have been able to overcome that feeling of hopelessness and manage my anxiety and depression. My motto now is, "It gets better."
