Welcome to the Out of the Darkness

Anchorage Walk  


The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.


If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150


How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.


Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!


Can I register at the Walk? Yes!  You can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.


Parking, route, and other info will be updated as we get closer to Walk Day.

Cuddy Family Midtown Park:

  • Cuddy park is at 201 E. 40th Ave, near the Lusacc Library. The park includes an inclusive playground, amphitheater, water feature, large field, and paved trails
  • The Anchorage Walk and resource fair will take place on the field.
  • The walk will start at a designated area near the performance stage and utilize the paved trails.
  • The course is approximately a half mile (.5-miles) in total distance.
  • Leashed pets are permitted.
  • We request pet owners be good community stewards and take necessary precautions when bringing their pets to a public setting, including cleaning and disposing of any animal waste. 

Anchorage Suicide Prevention Coalition Activity Area

  • Join our community partners from the Anchorage Suicide Prevention Coalition and other volunteers to play games, and enjoy coloring pages, bubbles, and other activities.

Memoria Tent

  • Stop by our memorial tent to submit a name of a loved one lost to suicide and a message of hope for survivors of suicide loss. Names and messages will be submitted for a digital art project that will be shared later. You are also welcome to bring a photo of a loved one to display. Photos should be labeled and submitted with a protective covering. AFSP is not responsible for lost or damaged photos or returning photos to the submitter.

Alaska Chapter Information Table

  • Visit the Alaska Chapter information table to collect prevention resources, wristbands, honor beads, and fundraising t-shirts. You can also sign up to volunteer, apply to serve on the local board, or make an in-person donation.
