Schedule and Activities: We invite participants to arrive at the 6th Ward Booster Club Field (off Scramblin Ave) starting at 9:00 am. The local Starbucks will be there with free coffee and pastries to get you going! There will be an interactive Scavenger Hunt with our many Community Partners, a children's activity area, selfie station, Honor Beads and Memorial Tent (please bring a framed photo of your loved one), over 50 raffle baskets, and our 2nd annual Chicken Barbeque! The opening ceremony to kick off the walk will begin at 10:00 am. Activities will stay open until the walk ends around 12:30 pm. Walk route map and details below!

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

Fundraise to Help #StopSuicide

$150+ - Raise $150 by 09/17/2022 and receive the official Out of the Darkness Walk t-shirt!   Donations can be made to a team as a whole,  but the T-shirt and other incentives are based only on INDIVIDUAL fundraising.  

Memorial/In Honor Signs

Teams or individuals who raise $500 by September 1 will be gifted a custom sign (similar to below) `to be displayed on the walk route, yours to keep after the event. An email for those who qualify will go out on 9/1 with instructions.

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150

Can I register at the Walk? Yes!  We strongly encourage pre-registering but you can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.


Will there be food available? Yes! Starbucks will be onsite in the morning with some goodies, and there will be a chicken barbeque!


Can I bring my dog? Yes!  Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the Walk.

Will there be raffles? Yes!


How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

On-Site Activities

Stop by the AFSP Store for merchandise, pick-up beads at the Honor Bead tent, visit our community partners, and grab some chicken barbeque!

Honor Beads

We all wear Honor Beads. Each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify those with a similar connection. No one walks alone.
