9AM - Registration: Please join us right at 9AM if you are not yet registered! All registered walkers will be given their walk bag, beads, and t-shirt (if fundraising goal met).  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for $5/ticket, 5 for $20, or 12 for $50. 

Once you've registered or checked in, spend time visiting mental health professionals’ booths, participate in a live art event, and enjoy activities including face painting, ribbon dancing, music, and photo stations.

10AM - Opening Ceremony: Our welcome and walk kick-off includes a powerful Honor Bead Ceremony where we celebrate fellow walkers helping raise awareness to end the stigma and create hope in Aberdeen. 

10:15AM - Walk Begins: The 2.8 mile walk starts and ends at Odde Ice Center directly after the Opening Ceremony. Golf cart transportation will be available at 15th Avenue and Main Street for walkers more comfortable with half the distance. A water station will be at the same location, hosted by Presentation College.

Post Walk: Enjoy fellowship with a free, light lunch provided by Kessler's and learn if you're a raffle prize winner!

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

FAQs

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.

 

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150

 

How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

Can I register at the Walk? Yes!  You can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Can I bring my dog? Yes!  Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the Walk.
