Welcome to the Out of the Darkness

Savannah Walk  



Day of event schedule:

  • 10:00am - Registration and Resource Fair Open
  • 11:00am Opening Ceremony/Walk

PLEASE BE ADVISED: The Alzheimer's Association will also be hosting an event at Lake Mayer Park beginning at 8:00am on Saturday, Sept. 24th. Please plan to RIDESHARE if possible, parking will be challenging.

Our event will be held at the Large Pavilion. 

What Can I Expect on the Day of the Walk?


Registered participants who have raised $150 or who have $150 to turn in should report to the registration area to pick up their incentive shirt. All other participants do not need to check in at registration. 

This year we will feature a Memory Board for you to post a leave behind picture or note to your loved one at the walk. Please do not bring an original picture, we are not able to ensure you will get it back after the event.

    • We all walk for different reasons.  Maybe we have lost someone to suicide, or perhaps we walk because we have friends or family that live with a mental health condition.  It is our goal to honor all of the reasons you choose to walk.

Advanced Purchase of AFSP Ghost Pirates Tickets available on site for a December game. 


Participants will be able to visit our community resource fair on the day of the walk.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee to participate.


If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?
No. The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150. If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150


How do I make an offline donation?
To send a donation by check, please complete this form and send it with your check to the address provided.


Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!


Can I register at the Walk? Yes!  You can register in-person at the Walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Can I bring my dog? Only support animals will be allowed at the park. The animals must be wearing their vests and the owner must be carrying authorizing papers in the event they are requested by the park. 


Parking, route, and other info will be updated as we get closer to Walk Day.
