We know how important our pets are to us and research has found that the bond between people and their pets can lower stress and feelings of loneliness while bring comfort to their owners. We hope you and your furry friend will join us for our Paws for Prevention dog park event to raise awareness and support for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission and work to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.


Day-of Experience: Resources & Activities

 

 

FREE Rocklands BBQ!!! FREE

Rocklands will be serving up their delicious BBQ to registered Paws for Prevention participants from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM or while it lasts!

Paw-ticipant Doggy Bags

* Registered paw-ticipants who raise $150+ by 5/20/2023 will receive a complimentary doggy bag stuffed with an AFSP t-shirt, dog bandana, water bowl, wristbands, stickers, and more! Donations can be made to a team as a whole,  but participant incentives are based only on INDIVIDUAL fundraising.  

 
 
Honor Beads

Honor Beads will be available on-site to show your connection(s) to the cause.


Resources Fair

Exhibitors are invited to participate in our Resources Fair to present materials related to resources offered by the exhibitor which serve the AFSP’s mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

FAQs

Q: Can I bring my dog?  
A: Ummm... YEAH!  Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome. Dogs may go off of their leash when inside of the fenced dog park. We will have lots of fun activities for pups and their humans. You can also pick up some doggy accessories at our AFSP store so you and your pup can rock some stylin' AFSP gear.

Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: No, there is no registration fee to participate.

Q: Is there a fundraising minimum?
A: No, but we strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official Paws for Prevention participant doggy bag!

Q: Is the event family-friendly?  
A: Yes!  The pre-event and Walk are both family-friendly

 

Q: Where do I park?  
A: There is plenty of free parking on-site at Ben Brenman Park. You can use this Parking Map to help you navigate your way around the Park! 

Q: What if it rains?
A: The event is rain or shine and would only be canceled in the instance of severe weather that would compromise the safety of our guests.

Q: Must-have items I should bring?  
A: We recommend bringing comfy shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, reusable water bottles, donations, and funds to purchase your AFSP swag!

 

 

 

 

Q: How do I make an offline donation?
A; To send a donation by check, please complete this  Offline Donation Form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Q: Can I register at the event?  
A: Yes!  You can register in-person at the event. Donations are accepted until June 30th.

Q: Will there be food/drink available?  
A: Rocklands will be serving up their delicious BBQ to registered Paws for Prevention participants from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM or while it lasts! 

Water and light snacks will be provided by AFSP throughout the event for volunteers and registered participants.

Q: Where do I go for First Aid?  
A: A first aid kit can be found at the Participant Check-in & Registration area.
