The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's chapters are at the forefront of suicide prevention. AFSP is the nation's largest leading nonprofit suicide prevention organization.

Suicide is a public health crisis. It is the 10th leading cause of death, and the rates continue to rise. We all know someone affected by suicide. In Mississippi, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 10-34. On average, one person died by suicide every 21 hours in Mississippi.

Project 2025 is a high-impact, collaborative initiative developed by AFSP, aimed at the organization’s bold goal of reducing the annual suicide rate 20 percent by 2025. Using a dynamic systems model approach based on what the evidence tells us about suicide, AFSP has determined a series of actions and critical areas to help us reach our goal.

Our mission: Save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Suicide can be prevented. By creating a culture that's smart about mental health, advocating for public policies that make suicide a priority.

Be a Lifesaver - The vast majority of money raised comes from individuals like you. With your help, we provide education, research, advocacy and support to save lives and ensure no one has to face suicide alone.

Together, we can #StopSuicide.
