National Suicide Prevention Week
September 5-11 is National Suicide Prevention Week (NSPW), and our theme for this year is Together, We Can Help #StopSuicide. This campaign is built from the idea that when we make time to stay connected to one another, deepen our conversations, and support each other in help seeking, we are strengthening our mental health and preventing suicide.
Mark your calendars for September 10 – World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. On this date, AFSP will host its first ever, all-day Facebook Live event from 12pm to 8pm ET on @AFSPnational to bring together our communities across the country (and even world) at one place, one time on our national page.

Losing someone to suicide or living with a mental health condition can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.
The Out of the Darkness Walks are journeys of remembrance and events that unite a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. We all wear honor beads - each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who understand our experience.
