Walk Day Details

Walk Location: On the Boardwalk outside of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City 

Walk Day Activities: begin at 9:00 am

Walk Ceremony: begins at 10:00 am with the walk to immediately follow 

Walk Route: We will depart Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and head North on the boardwalk towards the inlet (Oriental Ave). Once there, we will turn around and head back to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where the walk will conclude. Length of route is 2 miles. 

Walk T-shirts: for everyone who raises $150 or more (individual fundraising, not team fundraising) - must be picked up on the day of the walk. **one shirt only**

Honor Beads: Honor Beads will be available on-site to show your connection(s) to the cause. 

Walk Day Activities: we will have numerous walk day activities available for walkers to participate in. There is no charge for any of these activities. 

50/50 Raffle: we will be selling 50/50 tickets!$10 for one sheet (10 tickets). We will pull the winner after the walk. 

Merchandise: Custom AFSP NJ Chapter shirts, hats, water bottles, and bandanas will be available for purchase! 

Bathrooms: You can access the bathrooms located inside Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Parking: Free parking will be provided by Hard Rock in their self-park section. YOU MUST PRESENT THIS VOUCHER

Loss & Healing Tent: We will have a Loss & Healing Tent available on walk day. Please stop by should you need support, resources, or a quiet place. 

Getting to the Walk Site: After parking (if you are parking at Hard Rock), you will walk through the casino to get outside on the boardwalk where we will be set up. You can use this map.

Accessibility Information:
  • There is one route option and it stays on the boardwalk, which is flat. 
  • There is free parking in the self-park section of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. There is also the option to valet, which will NOT be paid by AFSP. 
  • There are benches throughout the 2 mile walk route. 
  • Expect a large crowd and music.

FAQs

Is there a registration fee?

There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum to participate.

We strongly encourage each participant to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP's work to stop suicide and receive the official walk t-shirt!

 

If I raise enough money, will my whole team get a shirt?

The event shirts are only given to individuals who raise $150 by 09/07/2024.

If your whole team wants a shirt, each member must raise $150

 

How do I make an offline donation?

To send a donation by check, please complete the Offline Donation Form and send it with your check to the address provided.

Are dogs allowed?

While we love our furry friends, the venue for the Atlantic-Cape Walk does not allow pets.

 

How do I change my team status?

If you're already registered and looking to create a new team or join an existing one, simply log into your account and click "change team membership".

Can I register at the Walk? 

You can register or donate in-person at the Walk by scanning a QR code. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Healing Conversation

Healing Conversations gives those who have lost someone to suicide the opportunity to talk with our experienced volunteers. These AFSP volunteers, who are themselves survivors of suicide loss, offer understanding and guidance in the weeks and months following a suicide death.

Available in person, on the phone or by video chat, our volunteers are familiar with the isolation that so often accompanies a death of this kind, and are able to show suicide loss survivors a way forward into a world of support, by creating an opportunity for the newly bereaved to speak openly with, and ask questions of, someone who has been there, too, and truly gets it.

When someone contacts us to request a conversation, we will ask them some questions about their loss, so that we may match them with a suitable volunteer who has experienced a similar loss. Their peer support volunteer will contact them to schedule a conversation at a convenient time and, in the case of in-person visits, at a comfortable location of the person’s choice.
